Carrie Underwood crashed Bad Paisley’s party on this date in 2011, Faith Hill sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in 2000 and Kathy Mattea scored her first number one single back in 1988.

Here’s the list for Today In Country Music History for 30 January, 2012.

  • Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher made a surprise appearance during Brad Paisley‘s concert at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, joining Brad, Darius Rucker and Jerrod Niemann on the show-closer “Alcohol,” in 2011.
  • Toby Keith collected a gold single for “Whiskey Girl” in 2006.
  • Faith Hill performed the national anthem at Super Bowl XXXIV at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome in 2000. The St. Louis Rams beat the Tennessee Titans, 23-16.
  • Jo Dee Messina scored a Number One hit with “Stand Beside Me” in 1999.
  • The Super Bowl features a “Rockin’ Country” halftime show, with Clint Black, Travis Tritt, Tanya Tucker and The Judds, in 1994 where Dallas beat Buffalo, 30-13.
  • Kathy Mattea scored her first Number One single with “Goin’ Gone” in 1988.
  • Randy Travis recorded four songs in his first recording session for Warner Bros., including “Prairie Rose” and “On The Other Hand,” in 1985.
