Looks like this woman is already married...to her phone.

With one swift flick of her thumb, a bride managed to make the entire world cringe as she pulled out her phone in the middle of her wedding ceremony.

According to the Daily Mail, the man standing next to the bride in the video is her father, who had just finished walking her down the aisle. In this not-so-proud dad moment, he's probably thinking the same thing we all are: "Really? Are you serious?! You really have to do that now??"

The video is from a wedding in San Diego that took place in August of 2008 (uploaded in 2011), but it recently made the rounds on Reddit last week. And because it's such a you-gotta-see-it-to-believe-it moment, we couldn't help but share it.

Let this serve as a lesson to us all. We don't have to reject technology altogether, just learn how to take control of it instead of it taking control of us. Generational motivation expert Jerry Del Colliano has some good tips to help us control our digital consumption:

  • Set limits on when and where you will make and accept text messages, emails or social media connections. And stick to it.
  • Ban digital from dinner, have face time with people important to you and private moments away from digital availability.
  • Focus on faces – look into the eyes of those you are with.
  • New rule: anyone who is worthy of your time, gets 100% of your focus without distraction. You decide who is worth this attention. You can always catch up with your digital life later. Maybe parents should rethink checking their cellphones at dinner with their children.
