Taylor Swift was nominated for eight Grammies on this date in 2009, a shoeless Kenny Chesney went double-platinum in 2002 and Brad Paisley Danced to the number one spot on the charts in 2000.

Here’s the list for Today In Country Music History for 02 December, 2011.

  • Taylor Swift picked up eight nominations in the 52nd annual Grammy Awards in 2009, including Record and Song of the Year, for “You Belong With Me,” and Album of the Year for Fearless.
  • Marty Stuart and Connie Smith provided music for the lighting of the national Christmas tree, in Washington, D.C. in 2004.
  • Kenny Chesney’sNo Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems album was certified double-platinum in 2002.
  • Tim McGraw and Faith Hill played a show in Hampton, Virginia to benefit the families of the sailors killed or injured in a terrorist attack on the U-S-S Cole in 2000.
  • Brad Paisley‘s single “We Danced” hit Number One in 2000.
  • Brooks and Dunn‘s Brand New Man album was certified double-platinum in 1992.
  • Randy Travis hits Number One on Billboard‘s country chart with “It’s Just a Matter of Time” in 1989.
  • Kenny and Dolly: A Christmas to Remember, starring Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, aired on CBS-TV in 1984.
  • Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton charted their first duet, “The Last Thing On My Mind,” in 1967.
  • President Herbert Hoover goes before the U.S. Congress to ask for $150 million for a public works program intended to generate jobs and stimulate the economy during the Great Depression in 1930.

Kenny’s No Shoes sounds like a pretty good idea right about now!
