Blake Shelton has made it clear that he does not endorse Donald Trump — or anyone else — for the 2016 presidential race. "And I'm not going to," he adds in response to reports that he's pro-Trump.

An uproar was started when his comments from an article in Billboard were interpreted as being subtly pro-Trump:

I'm not going to have the political conversation with you about Trump, or about Hillary Clinton, but I will tell you this: Whether you love him or hate him, he says what he thinks, and he has proven that you don't always have to be so afraid. A lot of people are pulling for him, no matter how much Hollywood fights it. I see people who don't like him go and beat up people that do like him. You tell me, who's crazy here? ... I probably wish there was another option, but there's not.

Some media outlets interpreted that as being a subtle endorsement. Billboard brings up the topic while mentioning a recent tea party website claim that "Blake Shelton Sides With Trump on Issues of Political Correctness."

Shelton's tweets make it clear he was trying to stay clear of pushing his political opinions on anyone. He didn't dispute that he's a fan of the Republican nominee, but he didn't say he is a fan, either. Like so many things on social media, the comments spread like wildfire for a few hours before the "She's Got a Way With Words" singer poured water on it.

Earlier on Twitter, Shelton shared that he'd be playing a free show in Denver, Colo., his second free show in two days.
