UPDATE: 1/14/2013 11:10 am: Ellis County law enforcement officials are saying that the Amber Alert issued Tuesday morning for 16-year-old Inez Ramirez has been cancelled and should not have been issued at all.

The alert said that Ramirez was abducted by 23-year-old Edger Barron, however, officials believe that Ramirez left willingly with Barron.

Relatives of the teen say that they saw her pack a bag and leave with Barron in his truck early Tuesday morning. Ellis County Sheriff Johnny Brown said she was reported as a runaway.

Brown said that Ramirez is not believed to be in any danger and that the case does not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert. Brown is trying to figure out why the Amber Alert was issued in the first place saying, "This system is very important and I want to figure out how it got to this stage. I'm trying to get to the bottom of it."
