A Superbowl with no cheerleaders? My husband is dismayed.

He's not the only one, either.

Sunday's game featuring the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers will be the first Super Bowl without cheerleaders since Super Bowls I and II, NFL Films President Steve Sabol said Wednesday.

Yet some players are happy they won't be there.

Teammate Antwaan Randle El, asked if he cared, replied, "Yeah, I care — I'm glad they're not here. They are a distraction. If you look at the (giant screens), it's, "Oh, my Lord!' Especially in Dallas."

Some fans thought Jerry Jones might put his cheerleaders in anyway, during the half-time show, but that's not the case. According to the NFL, it's not Jones' call.

So while you're enjoying your chips and dip, the ads, perhaps a beer or three, and a great game, you'll just have to mentally recall images of cheerleaders in your mind. At least the Web is good about providing those images. Now pass the beenie-weenies.
