The 2014 Oscar winners were announced Sunday, March 2 during the awards ceremony, hosted by celebrated comedienne Ellen DeGeneres and broadcast live by ABC.

All throughout the race leading up to Hollywood's big night, '12 Years a Slave' (directed by Steve McQueen and starring Chiwetel Ejiofor) was among the top contenders, and the film ended up walking away with the biggest award of the night, Best Picture, in addition to Lupita Nyong'o's well-deserved win for Best Supporting Actress. Elsewhere, Alfonso Cuaron's 'Gravity' earned itself the most wins -- seven total, including one for Best Director, making it the film to win the most Oscars except for Best Picture since 'Cabaret,' which won eight. Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto both scored their first Golden Globes earlier this year for 'Dallas Buyers Club,' and both won in their respective categories at the 2014 Oscars, as well. And who could forget Cate Blachett's epic win of Best Actress for 'Blue Jasmine'?
